The bulky alkyl groups of ketones hinders the approach of a nucleophile.

Thus aldehydes offer less steric hinderance.

(ii) The two alkyl groups in ketones are electron releasing groups which decreases the electrophilicity (electro positivity) of the carbonyl carbon.
