Ans: Let two consecutive numbers be x and x+1
=> x + x + 1 = 61
=> 2x = 60
=> x = 30
Therefore , consecutive integers are 30 and 31

let the 1st no be x
x+(x+1)=61
=2x+1=61
2x=61-1
2x=60
x=60/2
x = 30
so,1st no=x=30
2nd no=x+1=31
checking
30+31 = 61
hence verified
x+(x+1)=61
=2x+1=61
2x=61-1
2x=60
x=60/2
x = 30
so,1st no=x=30
2nd no=x+1=31
checking
30+31 = 61
hence verified

x + 1 = second consecutive whole number
x + x + 1 = 61 {the sum of the two consecutive whole numbers is 61}
2x + 1 = 61 {combined like terms}
2x = 60 {subtracted 1 from each side}
x = 30 {divided each side by 2}
x + 1 = 31 {substituted 30, in for x, into x + 1}
30 and 31 are the two consecutive whole numbers
