Ali came out very slowly, turning after every few steps to gaze at the post office. His eyes where filled with tears of helplessness for his patience was exhausted even though he still had faith. Why was Ali's eyes filled with tears of helplessness? What had exhausted his patience but not his faith?

Ali's eyes were filled with tears of helplessness because he knew his end was imminent. He had grown quite old and his loneliness and suffering had further affected his health. The time was running out fast for him. He knew Miriam would certainly write to him, but he didn't have much time left with him. So there were tears in his eyes for not being able to receive Miriam's letter during his lifetime.
Old age, his illness and the approaching death whose footsteps he was hearing grow louder exhausted his patience; but his faith in Miriam was unshaken.

ali's eye were filled with tears of helplessness because he neither got any letter from his daughter nor any sympathy from the post office employees . his constant but futile visit to the post office for five long year exhauted his patiences , even then his optimism gave him the confidence that the letter would definately arrive some day or the othe
