There are only two rational number so you have to cross multiply them and then simplify. See the following steps:
8p-5/7p+1=-2/4
As we cross multiply
-2(7p+1)=4(8p-5)
-14p-2 = 32p-20
-14p-32p=-20+2
-46p=-18
Now there are minus sign in both signs so we will cancel them and will become as positive
So
46p=18
Now 46 is multiplying here as 46 is moved to the RHS( Right hand side ) it will be divided
p=18/46
As we simplify we get p=9/23
So p=9/23
