British women were supposed to follow the rules and discipline strictly and were even punished for not following the rules. To get independence and regain the lost integrity, women of all classes decided to work in factories. There too, they faced discrimination, as their wages were low as compared to men working in the same field. Industrialization was a blessing to them as it provided cheap food and also reduces the work force. Many industrialists employed women in cotton and silk industries to get maximum work at low wages.
