Answer:

All living organisms are basically made of carbon, nitrogen, sulphur, phosphorus, hydrogen and oxygen (C.N.S.P.H & O). These elements tend to circulate in the biosphere in characteristic cyclic path, i.e., from environment to living organisms and back to the environment. These paths are called biogeochemical cycles or nutrient cycles.

In simple way, these elements are absorbed by the plant from nature and convert them into food. This food passes through different trophic levels of various food chains for utilization by consumers(primary, secondary & tertiary).

Finally, the decomposers return the inorganic nutrients to the environment by decomposing the dead bodies and excreta of various consumers.
