The number which can be expressed in the form p/q, where p & q are integers & q is not 0 is a rational number. Any integer can be expressed as that integer in the numerator &1 in the denominator. So every integer is a rational number. For example 2 = 2/1, 0 = 0/1,

-5 = -5/1. (2,0,-5 are integers & also the rational numbers).

The rational number which can be reduced in the form k/1, where k is an integer, then the rational number itself will also be integers.

But many rational number can't be reduced in the form k/1, where k is an integer. These rational numbers are not integers. These will be fractions or combination of integer & fraction. For example 1/3, -4/7, 2 1/3 (two & one third), 22/7, 2.78, 4.999999… are all rational numbers, but none of these is an integer.
