Because human beings are greedy.

Explanation:

Though all of us know that nothing is permanent in life, we still want more and more in life. There is not stop to our wants and that is what causes misery and suffering in our lives.

We are all greedy. We know that in our death we won't be taking with us any worldly possession but our race towards acquiring more and more never stops.

We should instead try to acquire faith, trust and knowledge in life. We should be contented with what we have and should live a modest life because at the end of the day, nothing lasts forever except our good deeds.
