All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. This age old saying holds as much relevance today as
it did in yester years. Physical activity plays an essential role in the overall education and
development of a child. Games are strongly recommended by educationists and education
boards.
However, the present school curriculum leaves little time for a child to indulge in outdoor
activities. On the top of that a negligible portion of the weekly time table is devoted
towards Games. Even the parents same to have unorthodox approach towards games and
discourage children from playing as, supposedly, games hinder a child’s academic. At
school the teachers devalue a child for being involved in games. It is also unfortunate that a
big curriculum restraints a child from outdoor activities. Online games and entertainment
through information technology also tempt the child to remain indoors, even in their free
time. This makes children dull, lethargic and often vulnerable to infections and diseases. No
wonder obesity is becoming a major health problem nowadays.
