Answer:

Answer is Y/X

Step-by-step explanation:

Speed of Allen=X m/s

Speed of Annie=Y m/s

Let time taken by Allen to cover the resp.distance be T1 and for Annie let it be T2

Distance is common for both of them.Let it be D

We know that,

Speed=Distance/Time

For Allen

X=D/T1. T1=D/X

For Annie

Y=D/T2. T2=D/Y

Ratio of time=T1/T2

=D/X/D/Y=Y/X (D will be cancelled in the numerator and denominator)

Given :  Allen and annie travel at x m /s and y m /s respectively.

the distance covered by both of them is the same ,

To Find   the ratio of the time taken by allen to that of annie

Solution:

Distance = Speed * time

time taken by allen  =t₁

time taken by  annie =  t₂

=>x  * t₁   =  y * t₂

=> t₁ / t₂  = y/x

the ratio of the time taken by allen to that of annie  = y/x
