Allyl chloride is more reactive than n-propyl chloride towards nucleophilic substitution reactions, because allyl carbocation is a more stable intermediate than propyl carbocation.



NOTE: Allyl carbocation is stable due to conjugation.



Thus nucleophilic substitution occurs readily in allyl chloride.
