size increases along period with some exceptions

isabella4: i can,t understand
DSamrat: from right to left
isabella4: plz in detail explain
DSamrat: but decreses from left to right as the no. of protons increases in the nucleus it attracts more storngly the electrons and hence size of the atom decreases
DSamrat: it happens as the increse in electrons and protons takes placae fir the same orbit and hence nuclic forces dominates along period
DSamrat: hope u understood now.. sorry if i was not good at explaning
isabella4: no you are correct

as we move along the period atomic size decreases bcoz the valency of the proceeding elements in the same shell, nuclear charge increases
