NH3 AND H2O BOTH HAVE TETRAHEDRAL GEOMETRY BUT BOND ANGLE IN WATER IS LESS THAN THAT OF AMMONIA BECAUSE :-

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

IN WATER MOLECULE OXYGEN HAS TWO LONE PAIR OF ELECTRONS

IN AMMONIA MOLECULE NITROGEN HAD ONE LONE PAIR OF ELECTRON

LONE PAIR -LONE PAIR ELECTRON REPULSION IS GREATER THAN BOND PAIR BOND PAIR REPULSION

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

IN WATER MOLECULE OXYGEN HAS TWO LONE PAIR OF ELECTRON WHOSE REPULSION IS MORE THAN THAT OF AMMONIA IN WHICH THERE IS ONLY ONE LONE PAIR SO IN AMMONIA LONE PAIR TO BOND PAIR REPULSION IS LESS .

●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●

THIS IS THE REASON DUE TO WHICH ANGLE IN WATER IS LESS THAN THAT OF AMMONIA .
