Although sufficient amount of water is available in the earth surface, still then why water is scarce ?

Altouhg suffiecnt amount of water is acaible on earth surdace ,still there is scarcity of water is there because 97%of earths water is salt water which is there in oceans. 2%of water is there in glacier in form of ice and only1%is drinable water

Of course, earth is also known as the "blue planet" due to the vast water present in our surroundings. But most of the water are present in the form of sea water, ice glaciers etc which is not suitable for drinking. Therefore drinking water is still scarce.
