Given :  aluminium and copper are in ratio 9:11 and ratio of copper and silver in ratio 9:1 .  a new wire is formed by mixing both in ratio 5:4

To Find : what is the ratio of aluminium to copper to silver in final mixture

Solution:

a new wire is formed by mixing both in ratio 5:4

Let say 1st wire is 100K  then 2nd wire is 80K

1st wire

aluminium and copper are in ratio 9:11

=> aluminium  = (9/20)100K   =  45K

copper  = (11/20)100K  = 55K

2nd wire

copper and silver are in ratio 9:1

=> copper  = (9/10)80K   = 72K

silver  = (1/10)80K  = 8K

aluminium  = 45K

copper  =  55K +72 = 127K

silver  =  8K

ratio of aluminium to copper to silver in final mixture

= 45K : 127K : 8K

= 45 : 127 : 8

45 : 127 : 8 is the  ratio of aluminium to copper to silver in final mixture
