Aluminium is a reactive metal but still it is used for packing food articles.why?

Aluminium is quite reactive, when it is kept in air or oxygen for some time, the upper surface get converted into its oxide called aluminium oxide (Al2O3), which gets deposited as a thin coating on the surface of the metal. ... Therefore, this metalis used for packing food articles which do not get spoiled in the foil.

And it has a great affinity for oxygen and there is a shiny coating of aluminium oxide on the foil which is stable.
