It does react. Aluminum, especially with heated foods, spicy or acidicfoods, leaches into the food while you're cooking with foil wrap or with aluminum pots/pans. ... Aluminium will oxidize immediately when brought in contact with water or air. The formed aluminium oxide however, isn't reactive.

as Aluminium is more reactive and it is not a problem ,it is very malleable so it can be beaten into thin sheets and also it is easy to make a foil .
