The aluminum metal strip is added to hydrochloric acid to produce aluminum Chloride and hydrogen gas:

  • During this reaction, the aluminum strip is dissolved in hydrochloric acid and aluminum chloride is formed. Colorless hydrogen gas is also released during the reaction.
  • The reaction is irreversible and the products which were formed will not react with each other.

Al+HCl=AlCl3+H2
