Given:

Aman's age is three times his son's age

To find:

The present of Aman and his son

So,

Let the age of Aman's son be n years

So,

Aman's age will be = three times his son's age = 3n years (given in the question)

  • According to the question,

Ten years ago, he(Aman) was five times his son's age

So,

Ten years ago Aman's son age = (n - 10) years

Ten years ago Aman's age = (3n - 10) years

  • And the equation formed is

⇒ (3n - 10) = 5 * (n - 10)

⇒ 3n - 10 = 5n - 50

⇒ 50 - 10 = 5n - 3n

[by tansporting (-50) to LHS and (3n) to RHS]

⇒ 40 = 2n

⇒ 40 ÷ 2 = n

[By transporting 2 to LHS]

⇒ 20 = n

Thus,

  • The present age of Aman's son = n years = 20 years

And

  • The present age of Aman = 3n years = 3 * 30 = 60 years.
