money spent on fruit= 1/4 of a
money left = 3/4 of a
money spent on books =2/3 of 3/4 a
=1/2 of a
total money spent=(1/2+1/4)of a
=3/4 of a
money left =1/4 of a
according to the given condition
1/4 x a= 40
therefore
a =₹160
the boy originally had ₹160
