Let us take the present age of son be x .

Then the age of Amit = 4x.

Age of son before 6 years = x-6yrs.

Age of Amit before 6 yrs. = 4x-6yrs.

So,

ATQ, 10( x - 6 ) = 4x - 6.

or 10x - 60 = 4x - 6.

or 10x - 4x = 60 - 6 .

or 6x = 54.

or x = (54/6)

Therefore x = 9.

Therefore present age of son = x = 9yrs.

Therefore present age of Amit = 4x = 4×9yrs .= 36yrs
