Ammonia is Basic in nature

Explanation:

Ammonia

  • Its molecular formula is NH₃
  • As we can easily make out from its formula that it doesn't have hydroxide ion but still it is regarded as a base .
  • We also know according to Arrhenius concept any substance that has OH⁻ ion is a base .
  • Though it lacks hydroxide ion in its molecular formula but still act as a base because  but it reacts with water to produce ammonium ions and hydroxide ions.
  • Therefore , it is regarded as base because   it yields hydroxyl ions ,It is considered basic.

Aqueous solution of acid conducts electricity

The aqueous solution conducts electricity because in aqueous medium ions are produced and when these ions move they conduct current that is electricity.
