No. of mangoes = 429

No. of oranges = 715

No. of children among which these can be equally divided = HCF of no. of mangoes and no. of oranges

No. of mangoes = 429 = 3×11×13

No. oranges = 715 = 5×11×13

Since 11×13 is common,

So HCF = 11×13 = 143

So, the given no. of oranges and mangoes can be equally divided among 143 children

For this question, HCF is to be taken out. This can be done in 2 ways :

1) The factors of 429 are: 1, 3, 11, 13, 33, 39, 143, 429

    The factors of 715 are: 1, 5, 11, 13, 55, 65, 143, 715

   Common factors = 1, 11, 13, 143

   Then the highest common factor (HCF) is 143.

2) 429 = 3 x 11 x 13

    715 =  5 x 11 x 13

    HCF = 11 × 13 = 143

∴ Both ways answer is 143
