Answer:
Taking 14 as reference point and has bond order 3 . On adding or subtracting 1 , there is decrease of 0.5 in each .
Now for F₂ :
9 × 2 = 18
It is + 4 then reference point i.e. decrease of 2.
Bond order of F₂ = 3 - 2 = > 1
For O₂ :
8 × 2 = 16
It is + 2 then reference point i.e. decrease of 1.
Bond order of O₂ = 3 - 1 = > 2
For N₂ :
7 × 2 = 14
It is + 0 then reference point i.e. decrease of none.
Bond order of N₂ = 3
For C₂ :
6 × 2 = 12
It is - 2 then reference point i.e. decrease of 1.
Bond order of O₂ = 3 - 1 = > 2 .
Now we clearly see N₂ has highest bond order i.e. B.O. 3 .
