hey mate ,here is your answer
zncl2

priyankasubhadarsini: Explain. I know the answer.
PeterTony: According to me here we can apply fajan’s rule.. Which states “cation with smaller size and greater charge and anion with larger size and less charge has more polarizing power”

So a more covalent compound is formed with smaller cation and largerer anion.

Here size of cation is Zn²+ < Cd²+ < Hg²+ and anion in all of them is same Cl-,

So according to fajan’s rule order of covalent character is ZnCl2 > CdCl2 > HgCl2
PeterTony: Zncl2
Hg has f14 system in its inner core. Due to the diffused nature of f-orbital,very poor shielding is possible b/w the inner core electeons and the valence shell electrons. Finally, the polarising power and hence the covalent character increases down the group.
PeterTony: here is your answer
priyankasubhadarsini: Thank u
PeterTony: welcome
