Explanation:

a) 1. Introduction : Channa is the charioteer of Prince Siddhartha. But he is his friend, philosopher and guide too. Wherever the Prince goes, he accompanies him. We always find him with the Prince.

2. As an obedient servant: Channa is the obedient servant of the king Shuddhodana as well as Prince Siddhartha. The king ordered him to go to the city with the Prince two times. Every time Channa obeyed him and fulfilled his duty sincerely. During the Prince’s visit to the city, Channa obeys him also. Whatever the Prince asks him, he answers it very intelligently. Whenever the Prince asks him to return to the palace, he obeys him willingly.

3. As a philosopher and guide : Channa is very intelligent and knows the realities of life very well. The Prince asks him many questions about sickness, old age, death, life and this world. Channa answers them very wisely and properly. So the Prince is satisfied with him. He has the knowledge of human life and the causes of human sufferings. Channa never misguides the Prince. He serves him as a true guide. Therefore the Prince also regards him most.

b) The author wanted to know the age of Alice. But he thought it was impolite to ask a girl her age. So this desire led the author to ask for a picture of Alice.

c) Yes, Jimmy Wells was fair in his dealings with Bob because he did his duty as a policeman as well as a friend.
