Dear Student,

◆ Answer -

2000 m

◆ Explaination -

# Given -

h = 490 m

v = 720 km/h = 200 m/s

# Solution -

When bomb is dropped from aeroplane it will have zero vertical velocity and horizontal velocity equal to aeroplane.

Let t be time time taken by bomb to reach ground.

h = u.t + 1/2 gt^2

490 = 0×t + 1/2 × 9.8 × t^2

t^2 = 490 / 4.9

t = 10 s

Horizontal distance travelled by bomb in this time be s.

s = v.t

s = 200 × 10

s = 2000 m

Therefore, bomb will miss the target by 2000 m.

Hope this helps you...
