An aeroplane left city A at 2:00 PM and has to reach city B which is at a distance of 2160 km. If the aeroplane covered 1260 km in the first 1 hour 10 minutes, when will it reach city B, assuming it to travel at a uniform speed?

The distance with 15 minutes left is 200 miles, divide that in half because you have two planes and you have 100 miles for each plane left to go in the 15 minutes. We know the distance at 60 minutes is 0 miles so that means both planes travel 100 miles per 15 minutes or 6.67 miles/minute. So rewind 45 minutes back to when the planes were an hour apart. To get the distance, go 6.67(rounded) X 45 and the answer is 300 miles. Add that to the 100 in the final 15 minutes and you’ve got 400 miles as the initial distance of any one of the planes at 60 minutes. Now since you’ve actually asked for the overall distance at one hour just double 400. Which means the final answer is 800 miles, the planes are 800 miles apart.
