Hi,

For an equation like 6(2x - 3) = 3(4x - 8) + 6, it will be true for all values of x. That's because this simplifies as follows:

6(2x - 3) = 3(4x - 8) + 6
12x - 18 = 12x - 24 + 6
12x - 18 = 12x - 18 <= Because both sides simplify to the same thing, they will always have the same answer. Therefore all real numbers are solutions to this equation.

When you have something like T(x) = x + 5. The T is simply the name of the function. It is not a variable. You don't put any number in place of T.

I hope that helps!! :-)
