Devices used for heating the room converts "electrical energy" into "heat energy". These kind of heating elements use a coil or ribbon.
Most of these "heating elements" use "nichrome" which is an alloy of Nickel ad Chromium.
It is an "ideal material" which has relatively "high resistance" and forms an "adherent layer" of "chromium oxide", when it is heated.
This layer forms a protective layer, and hence prevents further oxidation and hence can be used even under high temperatures.
