Electric field is a region around a charged particle or object within which a force would be experienced by the other charged particles or objects.

proton is the positively charged particle inside the nucleus of an atom.

Alpha particle consist of two Protons and two neutrons bound together into a particle identical to a helium nucleus. They are generally produced in the process of alpha decay.The symbol for the alpha particle is α or α^2.

As the proton and the alpha particle is positively charged particle and the cause of electric field is the rest charged particle due due to opposite nature of charge they both attract each other thus there is no any account of motion of the proton and an alpha particle.

proton and an alpha particle can be accelerated/in motion by the use of particle accelerator (e.g cyclotron)

As we know that the rest mass of the alpha particle amounts to 4 a.m.u which equals to about 6.644×10^-27 kg and its charge is +2e ie twice of a proton. so according to the working & the principles of the cyclotron mass is inversely proportional to the velocity, thus as the mass increases the velocity will decrease.

so the proton will move with higher velocity than the alpha particle.

Answer:

α particle has charge =+2e

β particle has charge =−e

Now it is given that force acting on charge F

q=Eq

∴∣F α ∣:∣F ∣=∣+2eE∣:∣−eE∣

=2:1
