An alternative ending for the the story the face in the dark plz

I have two alternative for the ending :

1)It may be a case of mere hallucinations with Mr. Oliver in which a person is too tired that they see something that doesn't happen or exists.

2)It can also be a paranormal experience with Mr. Oliver .
