An amount of money is to be divided among p, q and r in the ratio of 3 : 5 : 7 respectively. If the amount received by r is rs. 4000 more than the amount received by q, what will be the total amount received by p and q together?

Given,
an amount of money is to be divided among p,q and r in the ratio of 3: 5: 7 respectively.
the common term in the ratio is X .
so, the amount is received by p is 3X, the amount is received by q is 5X and the amount is received by r is 7X.
again,
the amount received by r is RS.4000 more than the amount received by q.
So, the amount received by q + 4000= the amount received by r.
=> 5X+4000=7X
=>4000=7X-5X
=>4000=2X
=>X=(4000÷2)
=>X=2000
the amount received by p =3X
=3×2000
=6000

the amount received by q=5X
=5×2000
=10000

The total amount received by p and q tohether is=(6000+10000)
=16000



So, the total amount received by p and q tohether is RS. 16000
