let a be the first term and d the common difference

as per question

a + 2d =12 ...................... (a)

and a+49d=106...................... (b)

subtracting (a) and (b), we get

a+2d-a-49d=12-106

or -47d=-94

or d=2

putting the value of d in equation (a)

a+2 (2)=12

or a+4=12

or a=8

so a=8 and d= 2
