because if ph is less than 7 it is acidic and if ph is more than 7 than its basic i.e. pH 1,2,3,4,5,6 are acidis .....pH 7 is neutral and pH8,9,10,1,12,13,14 are basic.

so as it is turning red litmus to blue therefore it must be basic
