  • The chemical  name of the reddish brown substance found on the iron sword is RUST.
  • The rust has the chemical formula Fe_{2}O_{3}.xH_{2}O , hydrated iron (III) oxide.
  • In the presence of water, moisture, or air, the reaction of iron with oxygen leads to the formation of rust.
  • No physical process is there to obtain back the iron from the rust.
  • The rusting of the iron has the following reaction:
  • 4Fe + 3O_{2}  + 6H_{2} O\rightarrow  4Fe(OH)_{3}
  • The rust is a reddish and brown flaky coat present on the iron.
  • Rusting causes loads of damage.
  • It can be corrected by methods like painting,  galvanization, and the application of grease.
