Answer:

Through the work of scientists in the late 18th century, the main features of the electrostatic force—the existence of two types of charge, the observation that like charges repel, unlike charges attract, and the decrease of force with distance—were eventually refined, and expressed as a mathematical formula .The mathematical formula for the electrostatic force is called Coulomb’s law after the French physicist. This result can be compared to the force between two in Nite parallel line charges, with charge densities 1, 2. The magnitude of the force between the line charges, when separated by d, is given by, jFj l = q 2 l jE 1 j= 1 2 2ˇ 0d repulsive for like charges (2) where we used the electric eld near a line charge E(s) = =2ˇ 0s. Other than the direction of the force these two results are similar

In an electric field a charged particle , or charged object , experiences a force. If the forces acting on any object are unbalanced, it will cause the object to accelerate. If two objects with the same charge are brought towards each other the force produced will be repulsive, it will push then apart.
