An archer stretches the string of a bow causing to bend. When the bow straighten, the string also comes back to the original place pushes the arrow out from the bow. As the archer streches the string the potential energy is stored in the bow due to its change in configuration and when the archer shots the arrorw the potential energy of the bow is transferred to the arrow  in the form of kinetic energy which gives it the tendency to do work and it moves with a fast velocity .
