An Arithmetic Progressions is a list of numbers in which each term is obtained by

adding a fixed number to the preceding term except the first term. Let us consider the

following case:

In a potato race, a bucket is placed at the starting point, which is 5m from the first

potato and the other potatoes are placed 3m apart in a straight line. There are 10

potatoes in the line for a competition. A competitor starts from the bucket, picks up the

nearest potato, runs back with it, drops it to the bucket, runs back to pick up the next

potato, runs to the bucket to drop it in and she continues in the same way until all the

potatoes are in the bucket. Refer to the given case and answer the following questions:

i. Write the first two terms .

ii. Find its common difference.

iii. Find the fifth term of the series.

iv. Find the total distance run by the competitor.​
