The ecological footprint is a measure of human impact on Earth's ecosystem and reveals the dependence of the human economy on natural capital. We are cursing the mother nature with our selfish interests and wrongful deeds and also increasing the our footprints on world by practising some bad habits like using bottled water as bottling water is an incredible waste of our planet’s limited resources. It takes 3 liters of water to bottle just one litre of water to get the mineral water, don not buying a coffee tumbler as 3 billion of the 200 billion cups Americans throw away each year because those cups can't be reused, not Bringing your own grocery bags as plastic bags can take up to 1,000 years to decompose, and neither paper and compostable bags are much better. Some grocery stores will give you their own reusable bags, or you can buy one that makes a fashion statement, not lowering the thermoststat and etc.A carbon footprint is historically defined as the total emissions caused by an individual, event, organisation, or product, expressed as carbon dioxide equivalent. The most common way to reduce the carbon footprint of humans is to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Refuse. This can also be done by using reusable items such as thermoses for daily coffee or plastic containers for water and other cold beverages rather than disposable ones.Another easy option is to drive less. By walking or biking to the destination rather than driving, not only is a person going to save money on gas, but they will be burning less fuel and releasing fewer emissions into the atmosphere.Yet another option for reducing the carbon footprint of humans is to use less air conditioning and heating in the home. By adding insulation to the walls and attic of one's home, and installing weather stripping or caulking around doors and windows one can lower their heating costs more than 25 percent and can reduce carbon footprints.
