an athlete covers three and half circle of a circular ground in 3 min whose radius is 7m. calculate the distance, displacement, velocity and speed

Answer:

Radius = 7m

Circumference = 2πr = 2 × 22/7 × 7 = 2 × 22 = 44m

time = 3 min = 3 × 60s = 180s

distance travelled = (3×44) + (1/2 × 44)

                              = 132 + 22

distance travelled = 154

Displacement is the shortest distance between initial and final point the athlete completed 3 and a half round . Thus the athlete is standing diametrically opposite to the starting point

Displacement = diameter = 2× radius = 2 × 7 = 14m

Speed = Distance / Time

Speed = 154 / 180 = 0.85m/s

Velocity = Displacement / Time

Velocity = 14 / 180 = 0.078 m/s
