In first shell:2n²
=2*(1)²=2
In second shell :2n²=2(2)²=8
In third shell :2n²=2(3)²=18=8[in third shell there will be 8 electrons because in last shell there should be electrons not more than 8].
Maximum electrons:2+8+8=18.
