aIn another life I was a voracious reader. Everything in my life was structured around books and reading. The way into my heart was to buy me a book, My wishlist was filled with books I wanted to read and little else.
In that same life, I had a best friend. Her name is Judy. She was like a sister to me. Judy’s sister, Keren, was like a sister to me. Being with Judy, the love of books went to another level. We constantly bought, borrowed and exchanged books. We gifted each other books for every occasion.
I look back upon this time in my life as a simple time. Even though it was the hardest time a child/teen can ever have. I was a teen caregiver to my mother who lived with Young Onset Alzheimer’s. Judy’s family and books were what helped me escape my very traumatic reality. Our vacations were spent lying around reading everything we could lay our hands on. In 2003, I left home to pursue my Master’s degree. Sadly, Judy and I lost touch as time passed. But Keren and I went to the same school for our Master’s and we still catch up when I go back home every year.
Over the years, my book collection has dwindled. Borrowed ones not returned. Some were given away as I have moved more than a handful times since I left home all those years ago. I began buying e-books because parting with my paperbacks was heartbreaking. Needless to say, I haven’t had a book shelf in several years.
A few days ago, I was getting off a red eye. I saw a Whatsapp message from Keren. I clicked on it sleepily only to get a real surprise. One of my juniors in school and college, Kavita, had posted to her Facebook page about procuring a book in an exchange in a city several hundred miles from the city where we all grew up. Lo and behold! It was my James Joyce gifted to me by Judy and Keren way back in 2002!
I don’t use Facebook, so I missed the story, but Keren was tagged and she shared the news with me. Below is Kavita’s Facebook post.

This was such an unexpected and wonderful surprise. Not only was I reminded of a sweet and memorable time, but it also made me wonder about the life of a book. What are the chances that this book would travel all this distance — to a place I have never been — and reach someone we have known, and someone who appreciates the value of this memory! I can’t thank Kavita enough for sharing this with the world, and with me. I will definitely be taking my James Joyce back, hopefully this time with an added note from it’s current book mama!
With purpose I head to the pre-loved books store, eagerly looking to see if I can reunite a once-loved book with it’s first reader.

Autobiography of tree
I am a tree; And, Yes I am your source of life. I provide oxygen, rain, wood, fruits, flowers, leaves to humans beings. But, What I get in response to it ?. Anyone have thought about it yet ?. After giving life supporting resources to humans, humans cut down us.
Since the creation of the Earth, I am a part of this beautiful world. I remember that day when God gave me responsibility of life to human beings on earth. And, As a tree, I am sincerely performing my work. But, you humans are very neglecting !. Because of humans, today lots of forests are getting deforested and rate of pure oxygen level in atmosphere is decreasing. If humans are cutting us, then it means that, they are indirectly planning to suicide. Because, As a plant we provide every life living necessary factors to humans, but what humans gives us ? "Death?".
As I am a tree, I have my permanent place at this village. From the morning to the evening, I observes everything happens around me. Various people come near me and discuss about activities in the village. Some women's come near me to talk about their Home activities. Various small child's come near my stem to talk and play with each other. Farmers come and rest at my shadow.
In summer season, I provide good quality Mangoes for everyone. Lots of people come near me and consume my mangoes. I really likes helping others. In summer season, I'm one and only for farmers to get shadow and cool air. Many people come near me just for shadow..... But, I also observes everything near me. And, I am very much scared today ! Because, I see everything near me... Not only good activities, but also bad activities happens near me.

Almost uncountable species inhale oxygen provided by us. We are very important for environment recycle also. As we recycle water and regulate air and temperature of environment. Because of us, Today the environment of earth is regulated and it is going properly. But, if we will be cut down, then what about this earth ? ; All the species and living organisms life is becoming endangered day by day, as they are cutting down the trees.
We trees, As a forest are also very important. We are home for millions of species of animals and plants. Rather than it, We generate lot of oxygen every second to maintain the earth. Because of trees only, rainfall occurs, we are very important part of this Eco-system.
Cutting down trees have very bad effects on the climatic conditions, change in weather and environment. All the problems like Global warming, pollution, floods, climatic change are occurred due to cutting of trees. Lots of disaster climatic conditions are also risen because of cutting of trees.

We trees, are consumed by small insects and animals; Later we are consumed by Herbivores, Herbivores by Carnivores and Carnivores by Apex consumers. In this way, our energy is transferred from one organism to another organism.
So humans, Now you know how important we are for you and this earth. We are important to run the proper life on earth and maintain the Earth's balance. I don't have any problems with humans, but I want to just tell you humans that, we life providing resource for you should be kept properly. Please don't cut trees humans !
