When an electric dipole is kept, for the first to the left, and then to the right of a negatively charged infinite plane having a uniform surface charge density.

The arrow of p1 and p2 shows the directions of its electric dipole, then the electric dipole is firstly kept left and then right side of the negatively charged side.

When electric dipole is kept first to the left of the negatively charged infinite plane sheet having uniform surface charge density .in case of p1 the electric dipole will make 180°angle with electric field hence in the stable equilibrium, but

In case p2 where the electric dipole placed to the right side of the negatively charged infinite plane sheet ,then the electric dipole will make 0°angle with the electric field hence unstable.
