An electric geyser is known to consume 2.2 units of electrical energy
per 5 hour of its use. It is designed to work on the mains voltage of 220
volt.

(a)What is the power rating of this device?
(b)What should be the minimum current rating of the fuse wire to be
used for electric geyser in the circuit?
(c)Calculate the resistance of electric geyser.

Answer:

Given,

Time (t) = 5 hrs

Units = 2.2 kWh

Potential Difference = 220V

a. ∴ Units = (Power*Hours)/1000

= 2.2 = (Power*5)/1000

= 2200 = 5Power

= 440W = Power

b. Power = Current (I) *Voltage

= 440 = 220I

= 2 A = I = Fuse Rating

[I recommend to use more fuse rating of somewhat like 2.5-3 A because if you use 2A fuse for an appliance that consumes 2A then the fuse will right away blown up without any reason]

c. Voltage = Current*Resistance

= 220 = 2R

= 100 ohm = Resistance

I hope this helps.
