Given info : An electric heater works on 230 volts AC has resistance of 1000 ohm.

To find : the amount of heat energy generated in one hour is given by,

solution : we know, power of an electric appliance of potential difference V and resistance of that appliance is R , is given by , P =  \frac{V^2}{R}

and heat generated by the appliance , H  = power of appliance × time

H=\frac{V^2}{R}t

here, V = 230 volts , R = 1000 Ω and t = one hour = 3600 sec

⇒ H = \frac{230^2}{1000}\times3600J = 190440 J ≈  190.4 kJ

therefore the amount of heat energy generated in one hour is 190.4 kJ
