Answer :-

(a) 2300 j

(b) 138000 j

---------------------------

Explanation :-

Given :-

  • V = 230
  • I = 10
  • T = 1 min = 60 sec

To Find :-

  • ( a ) Power of kettle
  • ( b ) Energy transferred in 1 min

Solution :-

we know that,

P = VI

So,

( a ) P = 230 X 10

P = 2300 J

----------------------

( b ) we know that energy = P X T

T = 1 min = 60 sec

So,

E = 2300 X 60

E = 138000 J

» An electric kettle connected to the 230 V mains supply draws a current of 10 A.

Here ..

  • Voltage (V) = 230 V

  • Current (I) = 10A

_______________ [ GIVEN ]

• We have to find a) Power (P) of kettle

b) Energy (E) transferred in 1 minute.

______________________________

a)

We know that

Power = Voltage × Current

P = VI

Put the known values in above formula

→ P = 230 × 10

→ P = 2300 W (watt)

(Power of the kettle)

_____________ [ ANSWER ]

b)

We know that

Energy = Power × Time

E = P × T

Given : Time = 1 min

1 min = 60 sec

Time = 60 sec

Now, put the known values in above formula

→ E = 2300 × 60

→ E = 138000 J (joule)
