An electric lamp of 100 ohm. a toaster of resistance 50 ohm and a water
liiter of resistance 500 ohm. are connected in parallel to a 220 V source.
What is the resistance of an electric iron connected to the same source
that takes as much current as all three appliances, and what is the
current through it?

Answer:

i=4.10A & r=53.6 ohm

Explanation:

r1=100 ohm

r2=50 ohm

r3=500 ohm

v=220V

1/rp=1/r1 +1/r2+1/r3

1/rp=1/100+1/150+1/500

1/rp=15+10+3/1500

1/rp=28/1500

=7/375

rp=375/7 ohm

according to ohm's law

v=ir

i=v/r

i=220×7/375

i=308/75

i=4.10A

for another resistor

r=v/i

=220/4.10

=53.6 ohm
