An electric motor of 1.5 kWh and two coolers of 500 W each operate for four hours a day.If energy costs RS 3.60 per kWh, calculate the weekly bill.​

Let us write the given data first

GIVEN:

✪ Power consumed by Electric motor =  1.5 kWh = 1500 w

✪ Power consumed by 1 air cooler      =     500 W

Hence,

✪ Power consumed by 2 air cooler = 2× 500 = 1000w

SOLUTION:

✯ Here we need to notice that Electric motor  power is given in Kw and air cooler is given in W.

✯ So either we need to convert W to Kw or Kw to W

✯ Formula  is

1000w = 1K.W

✯ Total Power Consumed (W) = 1500 + 2(500)

=  1500 + 1000

W  =   2500 watt or 2.5 K.W

❆ To calculate Weekly Bill

   1 week = 7 days

❆ 1 day unit consume = energy consumed × time used

        =  2.5× 4   = 10 units

❆ Energy cost per Kwh = ₹ 3.60

❆ Hence total cost for 1 week = 10×3.6×7 = ₹ 252.0

❆ Hence the user must pay  ₹ 252.0 as his weekly bill.
