An electrician puts a fuse of rating 5 A in that part of domestic electrical circuit in which an electrical heater of rating 1.5kW , 220V is operating .What is likely to happen in this case and why? What change if any needs to be made?

the current drawn by 1.5 kw heater at 220 volts will be (1.5/1000)/220 = 6.8 Amp.

5A fuse will blow off on switching on the power.

Electrician needs to replace the fuse with 10 A fuse.

The above amount of current is greater than the rated value of fuse current. Hence, the fuse will melt and break the circuit.
